About Department

The process of change is gradual in its every aspect. It is even potentially true in case of tribal area. The Department of English was started in the year 1992 along with the establishment of the college. It teaches English as a compulsory subject. Most of the students are below average. They come to college with the attitude that English is a difficult subject. It has maintained a good academic standard consistently since its inception. The renowned teachers of English like Dr. Rajani Patil, Mrs. Varsha Pedhekar and Mr. A. D. Baviskar have worked as Head of the Department of English. They have contributed substantially to the development of the department in its initial stage. The legacy of the department is being extended and developed by the present HOD. Dr. Kamalakar Gaikwad. The department plays an important role in addressing the students especially from minority and depressed communities. It endeavors to create awareness and interest among the students regarding the English language and literature. Besides, the department also attempts to develop and enrich the library. All the Faculties have completed their research in Indian English Literature and Language. The Dept. has PG recognized and experienced faculties with number of publications of research articles in National and International Journals.

Objective

The prime objective of the department is to create awareness among the tribal students about the importance of English. Department carves zeal to study English in students and retain them in the flowing stream of knowledge.

Vision and Mission:

‘Bahujan Hitay, Bahujan Sukhay’ the motto envisioned by Late Bhausaheb Hiray inspires us to reach out to the underprivileged sections of the society. The department strives out to the underprivileged tribal youth to bring it in the mainstream of higher education.

  • 8. The faculty is consistently engaged in journalistic writing of national repute.
  • 9. Internet access has been provided to the department by the college.
  • 10. The department has provided reading room facility to the students. Periodicals and English newspapers are availed of to create interest and inculcate reading habits among the students.

  • 1. ICT methodology has been introduced (Internet Computer Technology)
  • 2. Text books and Reference books are issued regularly to the students and staff.
  • 3. The students are availed of opportunity to have wider exposure to the English language, newspapers (The Times of India) & the periodicals are displayed in the department.
