About Department of Zoology: The Department of Zoology of MGV’s Arts, Science and Commerce College Surgana, was established in the year 2010 at the undergraduate (B. Sc) level. The progress of the department has been commendable. Department caters education in both classical and applied aspects of the subject. The faculties are also actively engaged in various research areas. The department has organized a one day State level Interdisciplinary Seminar on “Biodiversity: Importance and Conservation”, on 10th January 2018.

The Department has well-qualified and research-oriented faculty who persistently engage in research by publishing research papers in reputed UGC CARE, referred and peer-reviewed journals of national and international levels. The faculty also has patents published at their credits. Staff members keep themselves updated on recent research and also contribute by publishing papers in reputed journals. Most of the departmental faculty is with Ph. D awarded degree having approach to research view towards their respective fields.

Department provides a good environment for research towards advancing the frontiers of knowledge. It also grooms and trains students in the modern techniques of science.

The department has a well-equipped laboratory for the undergraduate classes. The department organizes extracurricular activities from time to time such as conferences, workshops, seminars etc. It helps to expand the knowledge and understanding of the new concepts and various aspects of students and faculty members and also provides a platform for students to interact and show their skills and talent.

Our department provides exposure to the UG students by organizing excursion tours, one-day field visits to various institutes, hospitals, ecosystems etc.

  • To achieve excellence in teaching, research and extension education in the field of Zoology and Life Sciences.
  • To offer lectures and associated seminars, research projects and practical classes, under the supervision of experienced teachers.
  • To provide constructive feedback on their progress, individual students will be assessed throughout the year in assignments.
  • To produce globally competitive graduates in Zoology.
