The Department of Physics was established in 2010 at MGV Arts, Science and Commerce College Surgana. The department is offering Physics subject at FYBSc and SYBSc level. The department is actively engaged in teaching and research. The 2 faculty from the department acts as members Board of Studies (BoS) of Physics, Savitribai Phule Pune University Pune in last five years.

Vision

To establish a platform for the dissemination and creation of knowledge through teaching and research in Physics at various levels.

  • To offer state of the art Academic Programmes in Physics and in interdisciplinary areas.
  • To create intellectual property through innovations, quality research publications and patents.

Objectives

  • To create human resources with strong foundation in Physics which can be applied to wide areas in Science and Technology.
  • To motivate students towards research in Physics as well as in interdisciplinary areas.
  • To carry out high quality scientific research in wide areas of Physics.
  • To bring externally sponsored funds in order to strengthen laboratory facilities and support doctoral students.
  • To organize outreach activities to promote scientific culture.

The Physics practical handbook has been prepared by the faculty of Physics Department for the use of both teachers and students by including detailed instructions on laboratory experiments related to the Physics.
