The science of chemistry goes a great way to building a sound national economy by proper utilization of the natural resources of a country which now form integral parts of modern life. Chemistry has contributed much to improving the life of human beings. Life is made of chemicals; without chemicals, we can’t breathe, eat and show activity in society. This department was established in 2010 to impart knowledge in chemical sciences at the undergraduate level. Our college is situated in the tribal region, and more than 95% of students belong to a scheduled tribe. So the students are getting benefit by achieving B.Sc in Chemistry. The department faculties are actively engaged in research, especially in Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Environmental and Material Science Chemistry. The department has a spacious and well-equipped laboratory for conducting undergraduate practical courses. Almost all faculty members publish research papers in journals of national and international repute. The department staff has completed minor research projects funded by BCUD of Savitribai Phule Pune University. Faculty also published a book on Conceptual Chemistry. Faculty having one Patent on their own credit. The activities of our department are focused on achieving the mission of producing successful chemists, entrepreneurs and professionals with academic knowledge and skills for contributing to the current scientific demand of society.
The Department of Chemistry actively participates in CHEMIAD Competition every year organized by the Department of Chemistry MSG College Malegaon Nashik. The Chemiad examination aims to create interest in the chemistry subject among the student and make them well-prepared for the different competitive Exams.
Our college students (SC/ST and Women category) have been selected for participation in the training program entitled “Creation of R & D Culture in Electronic Materials among SC/ST and Women Students in Maharashtra,” which is being implemented at C-MET, Pune, for two years. Twenty-six students have benefited from this training program for the academic year 2020-21. Fifty-Five students have benefited from this training program for the Academic 2021-22.
